About us!

Welcome to St. Gerard School! On behalf of our administrative team and staff, we extend a warm welcome to all students and families. St. Gerard School is a K-6 elementary French Immersion school in the Calgary Catholic School District. We are a small, family-oriented school located in the community of Haysboro. Catholic principles govern all school activities and are present in all subjects taught.

Our school is named for Saint Gerard Majella, a physically weak but spiritually strong person. Gerard Majella was born in 1726 in Muro Locano, a little town in southern Italy. By the time he was 10 years of age, Gerard was receiving Communion every other day. Working as a tailor, Gerard supported his mother and his three sisters after his father died. He also gave two-thirds of his earnings to the poor and paid for masses for the souls in purgatory. He spent long hours in prayer each night.

It was because of Gerard's acts of charity and goodness that he was later canonized. Gerard died at the young age of 29, on October 16, 1755. We celebrate his feast on this day.
